Eh nothing much you? I live on a farm. I am 16 years old. I am a hunter. Do you hunt? I hear you have big whitetails there? I am a snowmobiler, I dive a YAMAHA(the only way to go!)from Daniel :)
BOO Radly will become involved in the story I think by he will beat one of those kids. He will be charged with abuse and have to do community service and the story will follow him. Daniel
I think Boo Radly is a very scary man he was in with wrong croud and stabbed his dad. He has problems in the head so he could go crazy any moment so he should be watched! Daniel
Being an outsider is when you are not in contact with the world. They have little to NO friends and keep to themselves. Some people become outsiders by people not liking them and not making an effort to have friends or care about anything in the world. Whats you r opinion? Daniel
Atticus was rolling on a tire and accidentally roled into the Radley yard. I used to ride on tires and i rolled by my neighbors house and he yelled at me that was very odd!
The children are so obsessed with Boo because there are so many myths about him. Also because he is there neighbor and they never see him at all or here about him but they know he lives there!
Not much, haha, I am sorry it took me so long to get back to all these... Anyway, I live in a pretty decent house, which is currently being worked on inside, like the interior and such. I am also 16 years old, score right?! i have not really hunted, but i have shot flying discs. I have not heard of whitetails... What are they? I like to snowmobile, I don't own my own though.
I'm sorry... i keep forgetting to post when i get home, and yeah. Anyway, I agree that it is a small town and such, everyone knows everyone, and there is no secrets. The odd family would most likely be my family hahaha, I live in a small town so yeah!
BOO Radly seems like the kind of person to keep to himself. I think he will just be a myth in the story realy... Almost like a twist in the book to make it more interesting to keep reader's on edge.
Chris ~ P.S. I forgot to add the Chris at my other message, I will figure you know it is me though.
I think you are right, but just because your an outsider, does not mean you don't have any friends. You are an outsider to Wisconsin, correct? Well, I am an outsider to Canada, it only depends on the contest you want to put the word meaning into. =P
Yes, the myths intrigue the kids, therefore they will be adventuring the BOO legend. Yes, I can be smart. =) No, I do not have any legends where I live, sadly. lol.
What do you think Harper Lee is trying to say about the education system at the time? Did Atticus go to school? Now that Scout goes, why is she having trouble?
Try to take something from your life and compare it with the book. always use ful sentences well, maybe not for just for joking around. Other than that good job guys.
.8-11 extend the story is told by an adult but in the adult perspctive i think because she is reflecting from her childhood. So its narrated by her in her childhood state because the story is based back when she was a kid. If the story was told by an adult it would really be different. they line would be changed totally. The thing that mekes a good historical fiction is a mystery i think. Or a legend of some sort. Like legend of boo.
Hey, good job on your guys blogs. I gave you guys a 3, 2, and a 3. You guys could make your opinions in your answers longer but other wise you guys are doing good.
The education system at the time is not fully expanded. The new teacher in town is trying to take control of the whole learning system. She is telling Scout to not listen to her father about reading and such, just so that she can teach at her level and teach with the rest of the class. Atticus did go to school, and learned the law, he broke the family trend, of working on a farm and such, to be a smarter person, and have a better living. Scout is having trouble in school because of the teacher telling her off and scolding her on her reading level, and controling Scout to not speak for other people. Scout had spoken up for Walter, wich she got in trouble for. Scout is also having issues with her brother Jem, Scout was told by Jem to leave him alone and hang with her own crowd, because school is different.
In the mob scene it tells us that people are crazy and will do whatever they want to make it there way. Instead of doing it in a nice calm manner they all go crazy and start a mob.
what does it means to be an individual in society? It means that you are a social outcast like you are not accepted or liked in your society. people like this generally keep to themselves and are quiet and really want nothing to do with anybody within there society.
It is not "crazy" it is a social network sort of, Because you expect all of those people to be in the mob crazy? Put yourself in a mob, what would it take for you to join one? Maybe all other people just peer pressuring you into doing it? Maybe the dominant person in that pack commands them all to, you never know. I am sure the ones in the mob that were not certain they had wanted to join the mob in the first place would have gone and done there business calmly.
Daniel, What do you think are the most important turning points in the novel? I mean, what events mark big changes for the characters in the novel? Is there one you think is most important?
A social network as in... OK, take a look at the KKK, it was a political social network, and there are many mobs out there. In conclusion to your confusion, mobs can also be organizations as in... Drug warehouses, mobs are always included with a drug warehouse. Also in jail, or prison, or correction facility, there are mobs, or "a group of people coming together..." It is hard to explain, but my visionary on it, is that it is a social network of a sort, or to a degree.
The one I think that was the most important to some characters was the trial of Tom Robinson. It changed atticus because he was determened to win the trial. he thought he had in the bag. Although he knew deep down he would probably loose the trial because they always choose white people over black people.
Hey, my name is Matt and I am a student at Central High School and I am a student in Miss. Johnson's second hour English ten class. Anyways, Daniel, when you say that the trial changed Atticus, I would have to disagree. He knew that Tom did not stand a chance in the trial because he was black. The jury would convict Tom no matter what Atticus did to defend Tom even though there was an obvious lack of substantial evidence to convict Tom. However, I agree that Atticus knew that he was going to lose the trial no matter what he tired to prove otherwise. Another thing to point out in the trial is that Jem thought that the case was in the bag and not Attticus. This shows us that Jem does not understand what is going on completely and that he does not understand the underlying factor in the case that is a white man vs. a black man's word, and the white man's word will always come out on top. The most important turning point in the novel to me would probably also be the trial. To me it showed that Jem does not understand how the world works. It also shows that a white man’s word is still better than any black man’s word. No matter how lowly the white man is, he will always be better than a negro, at least in those days. Good job blogging though, keep up the good work.
I see where you're coming from now, okay, I understand what you were trying to say. Yes, you make a good point about it being a gathering not a network, but what i was thinking about it being a network was more like a spiderweb, a big intertwined bunch of people knowing all about the whole situation. Technologically speaking it is facebook. --------------------------------------------- lol haha, i have a myspace, and a yahoo, you? --------------------------------------------- Yes, I agree the turning point in the novel is about the trial of Tom Robinson. In other terms of speaking for more people to understand it... It is like killing a mocking bird, innocent, did nothing wrong. Tom had done nothing wrong to it, and the Ewells just wanted to get rid of him, and make a statement that black people are not important..... Atticus was not really changed, it just put him in the dumps for a bit, he was more on the knowing side of they were going to lose the trial because of racism... Also it had kept the jury out longer then an y other trial has, mostly because Atticus had spoken words of real wisdom, knowledge, fairness, equal rights... I guess it changed a lot since then, It had made a real move in some people, in others, they didn't give a hoot.
I would say the most heroic character in the novel is Tom Robinson becaus he took the punishment even though we all new he was innocent. The jury was put in decision for many hours. They all trusted the white mans words because back in that day there was lots of racism. So they had to put Tom in jail.
What's up, this is Chris.

I disagree how could it be a social network? Like really how can it? That is not making sense to me!
