Many believe that the trial is the turning point in the novel. It certainly is one of them; however, it is in these last chapters that the novel actually reaches its most climactic moment. All of the events prior have been leading up to this point where the stories of Tom Robinson and Boo Radley are resolved.

  1. I think Atticus Finch is the most heroic character in the novel. I believe this because he is a respectable, and honorable man. He is one of the only characters throughout the book who are consistant with his views on any controversy. He believes in equality, and is definatly not prejudice. He teaches his children to be honest, efficient, and live with honor and courage, for example, "climb into soemone's skin and walk around in it." Or perhaps i believe he is a hero because he is honest. He says, "Best way to clear the air is to have it all out in the open." i couldn't agree more. Against all odds, he defends, tom robinson, a black man, despite what anyone including his own sister thinks or says about him. Atticus is truely a hero in the novel, To Kill A Mocking Bird.

  2. Atticus is indeed a heroic character in the novel, but I also think that you should consider that there are other characters that are heroic but are not as obvious. For example, I believe that Tom Robinson was a heroic character. Throughout the trial he didnt say bad about Mayella (said he felt sorry for her, that she was lonely, ..) he never once raised his voice or questioned why she was lying, he answered questions honestly, etc. Although Tom dies in this part of the novel, we do realize how heroic he really is. Who do you believe was heroic besides Atticus?

  3. I definitely agree with Marilyn and Krista. Atticus is such a heroic person and someone who I would want to know and be with. The way he brings up his children but lets them still be themselves, stands up for what he believes, and is so wise. I also agree that Tom Robinson is a hero as well. He was very a very strong and brave mal. But besides those two, in a way I believe Miss Maudie was a hero. She took Jem and Scout in like her own at times. She taught them valuable lessons and was a brave women who lived by herself. She taught the children that gossip was not a good thing in life which is so important to know and she taught them respect when she told Scout that Boo's name was Arthur and she refers to him by his real name. Also, the way she would make the children feel so comfortable was nice. I believe in a way she was also a small motherly figure for the kids besides Cal.

I think the most heroic charactor in the novel is Atticus. I believe this because he defended a black man and took all the criticizm everyone in the town gives him.He also does a really good job for being a role model for his kids and teaching them what life is about. he also teaches them a good lesson which is "You never could know all about a person until you walk in their shoes" which i think is a pretty powerful quote.

I think Atticus was the most heroic character in the novel. He stood up for what he believed in no matter what other people thought. He believed the Tom was innocent and that he was wrongly accused even when everyone else thought different. Also, he stands up for Calpurnia against his own sister and shows that he gives a lot of responsblity to her with having her help raise Jem and Scout. He tries to keep Jem and Scout safe from the evil around them but even when he can't he gives them wise advice that they take and grow upon.
I think another hero in this book was Boo. Not just because he saved the kids from Mr.Ewell but the fact that he finally got Scout to realize what Atticus was talking about with not knowing a person until you walk in their shoes.

Atticus seems to be the most herioc character in my eyes. Atticus shows everybody to stand up for what is right and to keep fighting for what you believe in. Atticus shows his children to be more respectful and to not be rude to others. He shows the courage to stand up for a negro and to fight for him even though he is going to be gulity even if he is really not gulity. It is just the way back then if your black your life is going to be tougher then others.

  7. I believe scout is the most heroic in this novel. She stands up for herself and what she believes in. she also is young which helps her understand things better. she is the cause of a fight not breaking out at the jailhouse. she also helps with boo in understanding the way he is. also scout stops je from doing a couple stupid things which was good. this book had a large part having to do with scout which makes her most heroic.

  9. I'm going to go out on limb and have to disagree. I mean yes, Atticus was one of the strongest and most respected characters in the book. Of course Atticus would be the hero as far as the adults, but let's expand and take a closer look at the adolescent characters. I would personally say as for the children that Scout, yes a girl, was the strongest and most heroeic throughout the novel. She was always the one beating kids up because they picked on her family. She wasn't gonna take anything from anyone. She always held her own. Not once to my recollection did she ever break down, or show weakness. Even at the most destraught times, she always held her head up high and fought for what she believed. She did make mistakes as any person does and had to learn the hard way a time or two, but dont we all? But what makes a person strong is how they live with the mistakes they make and how these mistakes affect them. Scout handled all her misfortunes with some pretty solid gratitude considering her age. Not only that but even after all the times she was harrassed for being a "nigger-lover" she never let anyone sway her decisions or choices. She is one strong, smart, and brave little girl. This is something truly rare to find in adolescents.

  10. despite everyone that blogs on here i think that boo radley is the most heroic. i dont think that atticus is the most brave because all he did was stand up to the kkk because they wanted to terriorize tom but thats not courage thats doing whats right. being heroic is not about what people do. its when they do it and when bob ewell was trying to attack scout and jem boo radley came and saved them both and ended up killing bob. because he did the heroic thing tate covered him. boo wasnt really in the story but everytime he was he was a mystery which makes him more heroic because they never knew he was coming.

  11. Boo Radley and Tom Robbison are the mocking birds in the book. They are similar in the way of that they are good people but they are oppresed. They are diffrent in the way that they have diffrent lives and problems. Scout learns about seeing things in diffrent views. She learns not to fight anymore and to be kind and considerate. Things have changed between black people and white people in the way that white people view that black people have rights too. Things have stayed the same in the way that there is still prejiduce and biggetry in the world.
